Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Play Text (“the app”) handles your information. Play Text is developed by aiLab (ailab.ee). We built Play Text to be private by design.

Data we collect

None. Play Text does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to us. We operate no servers that receive your content, and the app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software.

On-device processing

The default Kokoro and Apple voices run entirely on your device. Any text you type, paste, open, or share is processed locally on your device and is never sent to us.

Optional ElevenLabs voices

Play Text can optionally use ElevenLabs for cloud-based voices. This is turned off by default. If you choose to enable it and enter your own ElevenLabs API key, the text you play is sent directly from your device to ElevenLabs, using your own ElevenLabs account, solely to generate the spoken audio. We never receive this text or your API key. Your use of ElevenLabs is governed by the ElevenLabs Privacy Policy.

Reading web links

When you ask Play Text to read a web link, the app fetches that page directly from the website you specified in order to extract its readable text. That request goes from your device to the website you chose; we do not receive or log it.

iCloud settings sync

Your app preferences (such as the selected voice, speed, narration engine, and any key you entered) can sync between your own devices through Apple iCloud. This information is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We have no access to it.

Children’s privacy

Play Text does not collect data from any user, including children.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this policy and revise the “Last updated” date above.
